In 1949 Ditch Witch invented their first Service-Line Trencher. This machine was in high demand at the time because all contractors had to put in utility lines was a pic ax and a shovel. About 10 years later in 1959, the company opened up its first Ditch Witch facility in Oklahoma. They produced a line of 11 mini excavators including their MX series and XT series. In 2010 they came out with their MX series which included a line of five mini-excavators. Models range in size from 1,960 to 10,300 pounds with digging depths from 4 feet 11 inches to 13 feet. The company described these as very rugged, versatile, easy to operate, and easy to maintain. The XT series was created to be a mini excavator tool carrier combo.
