Product Details
The Maximizer GT tires are a very similar tire to the traditional Maximizer tire. The difference is the width. If running additional components, it can have an effect on the machine. Both the traditional Maximizer and Maximizer GT will have a similar stance on the machine. If running the Maximizer tires alone, you should be fine.
If you are pushing against snow or dirt, the skinnier tire pushes through easier because of the non-wide footprint. The wider footprint tires in the traditional Maximizer tend to have more pressure put against the machine which can be harder on the unit.
Best Type of Terrain
Many operators tend to opt for a smaller width pushing through snow and dirt because there is less force pushing against the machine which is ultimately easier on the unit. The Maximizer GT tires are great for use on farm-applications, or light construction use.
If you are running this tire on asphalt, the tread will wear faster than running a McLaren All-Terrain Tire or a McLaren Dirt Terrain Tire. If you are running a skid steer on asphalt, concrete or terrain that tends to wear fast on the tire tread, you want to run the McLaren All-Terrain tire, as they will last much longer. The Maximizer tire will wear very fast on asphalt and concrete.
Running Over The Tire Tracks?
If you are running or intending to run the OTT's (Over The Tire Tracks), it is important to note this is a skinnier tire.
If your unit is running OTT's or you ever plan to run OTT's this is not a good option (but they will work). If the tire size says 12 (12x16.5), the tire is really more like a 10 3/4", and the 10 (10x16.5) is more an 8 3/4".
If you do intend on running OTT's, the tracks will sway and possibly hit the unit. The OTT's will work with the Maximizer GT tires, but they will hit the machine and sway back and forth, we do NOT recommend this.
If you would still like to run OTTs on these tires, you may want to purchase a set of McLaren OTT spacers.
